Letter from President

Letter from The Chapter President:

Welcome to the website of Xi Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Our Fraternity was founded in 1906 and has grown to a life time membership of 290,000 with over 730 national and international chapters. Alpha Phi Alpha is the largest African American fraternity and is among the top ten collegiate fraternities in the nation. Alpha

Phi Alpha is the Fraternity of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our Fraternity originated the idea of building the MLK memorial in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall. The $120 million-dollar memorial including a 30 foot-tall monument was completed in memory of his legacy with the help of many supporters.

Xi Psi Lambda Chapter is dedicated to advancing our mission of community service, mentorship, youth responsibility, scholarship and higher learning with African American and Hispanic students. In partnership with the schools, members conduct monthly mentoring sessions at local high schools and middle schools. The participants are encouraged to increase their overall academic grades, organizational skills, make positive decisions, participate in at least one community service project, and encouraged to plan for higher learning.  Additionally, during the 2017-2018 school year, the Foundation awarded seven one thousand-dollar scholarships and funded five students ($7,575.00) on a week-long bus college tour of fifteen HBCU institutions. We support Alpha Phi Alpha National partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, March of Dimes, Head Start, Boy Scouts, and the American Cancer Society.

We have two main fund raisers for African American and Hispanic scholarships and community service projects. We hold an MLK Banquet in January that draws an enthusiastic crowd of over 200 supports and sponsors. The second event is our very successful Golf Tournament in May that had 100 Golfers last year.

We thank you our community for the opportunity to serve you and for your support.

Gratefully yours,

Dr. Reginald Woods

Chapter President
